HAPPY NEW YEAR : 2013

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!! Yea, I know I know... "It's January 9th, it's not 'New Year' anymore! Aren't you a little late!?" Well, considering there are 365 days in a year, and we're less than ten days in, It still feels NEW to me!! I'm also the kind of person who celebrates "Birthday Week", so why not stretch this happy-new-year thing out a bit? In fact, that might be one of my New Year's resolutions.... to always over-celebrate things for an extended, inappropriate amount of time. That sounds fun.

ANYWAY, It's needless to say that I'm very excited for what 2013 has in store!! There were a lot cool events and gigs in 2012 that I'm still reflecting on, and a lot of little seeds planted that I'm waiting to see bloom. Although I don't make a habit of trying to predict the future, there are at least a couple of things I know we can look forward to in 2013, things I'm super excited about!

One thing I know we can expect is to FINALLY get that look at the new A*VOYCE collection I've been working on! Within the next few months I'll be giving you the first peeks at what I've been sweating out in the sweat shop lately. Then, throughout the rest of the year, you can expect new ways to check out the entire new collection, an updated website, new lookbook, new ways of ordering, and info about some cool events that are in the works!

Another fun thing to look out for is my episode of MIKE & MOLLY which is set to air this coming Monday, January 14th! I shot the episode before the holidays and have been waiting patiently to get the official air date. Of course I will post again about that with all the info, but there was another fun element to shooting that episode... a little excursion into the life of my alter-ego... you'll be seeing more about that soon, too ;)

Well, here's hoping 2013 is great year for all of us! Keep Celebrating!!!

...when someone says "No"...

What do you do when someone says "No" to something that you really want? How do you react? Today I started thinking about this... as an actor and singer, rejection is so....typical. expected. par for the course. We performers deal with hearing "No" more often then not. Like, seriously, ALL the time! Sometimes it really hurts.... sometimes we just end up having a soy latte with our Besty at Starbucks and never think about it again.... but the fact is, we get said "No" to SO often that now I'm starting to wonder... is that weird? Are there other people out there who get rejected this much? Are there people out there that DON'T have to hear "No" 100 times before they hear "Yes"?

I'm guessing you can learn a lot about a person by how they react to hearing "No"  (although I hope no one is studying me, because I admit I've had at least a few seriously questionable reactions myself!! )  Do you get crushed? Do you feel defeated? Do you feel enraged? Defiant? Does it empower you to keep going? To pick yourself back up? To do better? To be the BEST?

As I was thinking about all of this... I saw this quote posted on Facebook:

"Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." - Winston Churchill

That's the same guy who is quoted as saying this:

"Never, Never, NEVER Give Up."

That sounds like a guy who heard the word "No" a few times.

the TWIST experience...so far

Ok, first of all... it has been SO LONG since I have blogged! Wowzers! I guess I have just been so hyper-focused on my work in TWIST that I've been ignoring this, leaving countless stupid videos unshared, a multitude of adorable outfits undocumented, and some truly incredible experiences unexpressed! This must stop TODAY! There is so much to talk about, here's the abbreviated version.... I have been happily dedicated to TWIST for these past couple of months...trying to enjoy each moment before its over, and it will be over SOON! Just 5 more performances to go before our run at The Pasadena Playhouse is over! (there's still time to get tickets - GO HERE)

TWIST went into previews on June 14th, at which point we made some major changes to the show (all for the better) and in the end it all came together in such an incredible way! By the time opening weekend came around we were all SO excited and proud of what we had accomplished, and we just wanted to share it with the world!

Opening Night Gala (for more pictures of opening weekend go to HERE)

We've had a great responce from our community, Click here to hear what people are saying about the show:

Here are a few V.I.P's that came to check us out:

I just want to say THANK YOU to all of my friends, family, and fans who tuned in to watch me on N.C.I.S last night! I can't believe how many sweet texts, facebook comments, messages & tweets I got after the show aired! Thank you, you guys are awesome. :)

I've been really busy the past few days;  rehearsing for the Rock &Roll Freedom Show tonight (more on that later), table read #2 for a new musical I've been a part of, preparing for auditions, all while doing a massive spring cleaning around the house... I've been running around like crazy!! In fact, as of the time of this post I still haven't had a second to watch the episode myself!

I came across this clip posted by a fan of the show, and it just so happens to be my scene! Sweet.  So, in case you missed it.... NOW, on to TONIGHT!! Tonight I have the privilege of performing with a very talented artist name Shaley Tuin at The Key Club on the Sunset Strip. It's part of the Rock & Roll Freedom Show, and it should be a really good time! Her back up band consists of The Cold Chills stars: Rob Gaudet on drums and Ferrari Watts slappin' da bass, as well as Kris Moser on guitar and lil 'ol me sanging some background vox. Come on out tonight, LA folks! I want to see you there! Click Here info:

N.C.I.S

Today I worked on an upcoming episode of CBS's N.C.I.S.  It was a really fun guest star role, and I had a BLAST on-set with the super cool cast and crew! These people are really awesome....so fun and laid back, they operate like a well-oiled machine (as you could imagine they would after 8 seasons!) and were so welcoming to me!!! (as I'm sure they are to all the guest star actors coming and going on their set) It was totally fun, and I loved it...

I'm not sure when the episode will air, but to be SURE I will let you all know when I know :) stay tuned.... ...as a side note, I came across the REAL N.C.I.S. website (as in, NOT the TV show) and it's pretty interesting... check it out

Love Bites

Last week I filmed a guest star role on the new NBC series LOVE BITES!! The show is described as, Irreverent and poignant, Love Bites pulls back the curtain to expose modern romance - in a way you've never seen before.I had an absolute BLAST filming this and I can tell already that this series is going to be great! The show is a mid-season replacement so it's set to debut sometime this winter, as soon as I know when my episode will be on, I'll be sure to let you all know!!

stay tuned...

inFAMOUS 2

Today I finished working on my first motion capture voice-over job playing a character in the up coming video game inFAMOUS 2. It was SO much fun, not to mention, I think the mocap suit is a really good look for me.

(me and Eric Ladin)

So, all you gamers out there, keep an eye out for the next installment in the inFAMOUS series! From the looks of this trailer (and having had a sneak peak behind-the-scenes) I think it's going to be pretty awesome!

PARANOIA FILM FESTIVAL

Check out the EVIL ANGEL trailer:

*This trailer contains nudity*

..... which brings me to a point I think I should discuss here on my website, just so that it's out there. I wanted to let everyone know that although my character "Carla" is shown nude many times in this film, I DID NOT do the nudity. It was a body double. It was a personal choice that I made at the time because I wasn't comfortable with it enough to do it myself. It was NOT because I disagree with it, or have any sort of problem with it in the creative sense... it was just a personal choice that I made. I wanted to do this movie so badly, and I was so excited with the opportunity to play the role of "Carla", and I was SO grateful to Richard Dutcher (the writer/director of the film) that he agreed to put himself through all the extra time and work to accommodate my request. I think he did an incredible job making the movie look seamless!! I'm very proud of this film.... and I hope you guys check it out!!

More Content Added...

After only a few days, this site went from a skeleton of a blog, to a website that actually has stuff on it! Of course it's still in the works, but slowly but surely the pages are getting built up... Check out the ACTING page for pictures, videos, and info on some of my past work, and the FASHION page for a gallery of my clothing designs.... More to come!!A*
