I Suck At Blogging.

You know it's bad when you check on the last blog you posted on your website and think, "wow, since the last time I posted I was involved in at least 5 really cool projects, attended at least a few noteworthy events, went through an entire gestation period for a human baby inside my body, gave birth to said human, waited so long that human baby is now A YEAR AND A HALF OLD, and also made a major relocation and moved to the other side of the country..."

That's bad. And I think it's official; I suck at blogging. BUT I've made a promise to myself (listen up, Self!) that I'll be better at keeping my blog up-to-date from now on! I promise so hard that I'll try.

I'm going to be super lazy and not attempt a run-down of all the things I've missed, but if you're interested you can give a quick scroll through my Facebook Page and probably get the bullet points. ;)

Instead, I wanted to talk about a cool project I have coming up, the short film (feature version in the future) called The Extraordinary World of Cecily Blinkstop.  We start shooting in a few months and the crowdfunding campaign is going to get going soon as well. You can stay in the loop by signing up for the mailing list HERE or like the FACEBOOK PAGE.

Cecily

I also did a cool interview with GoLocalProv.Com  for this project, we talked about my career, my move, and all about the plans for the fim. Check it out HERE!

I guess that's it for now. I'll keep working at not sucking, and hopefully post again soon!!

Concert for Victor

Tomorrow night, Tuesday, September 13th, I am honored to be performing in a benefit concert which will take place at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre at The Pasadena Playhouse at 7:30 PM. All proceeds go to the Rodriguez Family Care Fund...

This concert will benefit 23-year-old Victor Rodriguez and his family. In June 2011, Sacramento newlyweds Victor and Crystal Rodriguez went parasailing on the last day of their honeymoon in the Bahamas. At a height of approximately 200 feet their harness snapped, and they fell into the ocean. Crystal was killed, and Victor suffered severe injuries. Neither of them had health or life insurance. They had only been married 12 days.

The story is heartbreaking, and sadly the battle continues for Victor. He is currently hospitalized due to complications from the accident, and won't be able to attend the concert in person, as he had planned. We hope this night of performances can lift his spirit, ease his financial burdens, and provide him with hope, love and support.

The line up of performers is incredible, including Melora Hardin (THE OFFICE / Broadway’s Chicago), Anneliese van der Pol (That’s So Raven’s / Broadway’s Beauty & the Beast), Monika Beal (Long Beach Opera’s Philip Glass’ Akhnaten), 30 Rock’s Todd Buonopane (Broadway’s The 25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee), Hart of Dixie’s Deborah S. Craig (Broadway’s The 25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee), Devin Kelly, Charley Izabella King (Broadway’s The Producers), Leigh Ann Larkin (Broadway’s Gypsy & A Little Night Music), High School Musical: Get in the Picture’s Jennifer Malenke (Broadway’s Into The Woods - Revival) and Jacquelynn Ware, and the night will be headlined by Emmy winner, Wane Brady.

If you're in the LA area and can come out to this special event, please show your support!! Tickets are still available, and your contribution will be so appreciated!!

Full-price tickets are $99 including admission to the post-show reception, or $45 for the show only (both include a $4.00 ticketing fee).

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the opening night of Avenue Q at the Pantages Theater. I had NEVER seen the show (can you believe it!?) so I was excited to have the chance to finally see it!

The show itself is hilarious... there really is something funny about puppets swearing at each other and singing songs like "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist"... the show is brilliant, the cast was fantastic, and the entire experience at the Pantages was great ... If you get the chance you, really should try to catch it!

the BREASTival: a Gift-Raiser of Oncologic Proportions

On December 13th, A*VOYCE CLOTHING will be sponsoring a prize at a benefit concert to support a friend's battle with her cancer treatment costs......

In 2004-2005 Mimi Ferraro and I spent a short time as roommates while we were on the RENT National Tour. Shortly after the tour ended we shared something else, without even realizing it... a cancer diagnosis. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and Mimi; breast cancer. We are both extremely fortunate to have good prognoses, *we are both going to be OK*, but now Mimi has to deal with the next 5 years of treatments, medications, follow-ups, and all the costs that go along with it....

SO... Mimi decided to take matters into her own hands and ask for some help from her circle of friends and all the loving, wonderful people in our community, and is having a benefit concert in her own honor!!

Performers include Rebecca Naomi Jones (another RENT tour alum), Sheri Sanders, Anne Fraser Thomas, Vicky Modica, Mimi Ferraro, LaDonna Burns (our beautiful "Seasons of Love" soloist on the RENT tour), Matt McMahan, Chris Wade, Leah Gerstel, and Emily McNamara.

Of course I jumped at the chance to donate a piece from the A*VOYCE line for Mimi's raffle. After all,  the cause hits close to home, and I'm happy to do what I can to help!

(here is the piece that's up for grabs!! The prize also includes a 15% OFF coupon for their next A*VOYCE order!!)

Other raffle prizes include: coaching sessions with top New York theater teachers, dance classes, restaurant gift certificates, and clothing items from high-end designers.

Here's what you need to know if you want to pitch in and help a sister out:
